Is the Muslim Brotherhood crucifying opponents in Egypt?

According to a report in Algemeiner, and reported by WND.com, numerous sources reported protesters in Egypt were crucified on trees. From a translated Egyptian site:

The Sky News correspondent in Cairo that the Arab protesters belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood crucified opponents of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi naked on the trees in front of the presidential palace, while torturing others.

Other demonstrators also closed doors Brotherhood Media Production City in the October 6, and assaulted the well-known journalists.

They chanted during the demonstration against Chairman Lafraain Canal Tawfiq Okasha and call them to “inform the corrupt remnants”, and a number of them attacked the editor of Media seventh day Khaled Salah.

Witnesses said groups of members of the Muslim Brotherhood and arrived at a number of buses and private cars carrying banners attacking “media sedition.”

These had to divide themselves into groups took some prevent entry and exit to and from the city of production.[All translation from Arabic via Google translater.]

Also this from Algemeiner:

Last Wednesday, August 8, “thousands of the Muslim Brotherhood’s supporters” attacked 6-October’s media facilities, beat Khaled Salah—chief editor of the privately-owned and secular Youm 7 newspaper—prevented Yusif al-Hassani, an On TV broadcaster, from entering the building, and generally “terrorized the employees.”

El Balad adds that the supporters of Tawfik Okasha, another vocal critic of President Morsi—the one who widely disseminated the graphic video of a Muslim apostate being slaughtered to cries of “Allahu Akbar”—gathered around the presidential palace, only to be surrounded by Brotherhood supporters, who “attacked them with sticks, knives, and Molotov cocktails, crucifying some of them on trees, leading to the deaths of two and the wounding of dozens.”

Center for Security Policy Senior Fellow Clare Lopez warns this behavior may continue because,

“Crucifixion is a hadd punishment, stipulated in the Quran, Sura 5:33, and therefore an obligatory part of Shariah,” Lopez said. “It’s been a traditional punishment within Islam since the beginning, even though it’s not exclusively Islamic. The Romans used it too.

“So, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood haven’t the option to not include crucifixion within their legal code. It’s obligatory to comply with Shariah. And yes, it’s for shock value also to be sure,” Lopez said.

Lopez includes a warning for Egypt’s Christians and compares the coming treatment of the Christians to the Jews in Germany.

“The Copts must get out of Egypt as soon as possible – for the many millions who will not be able to get out, I expect things will continue to deteriorate – just as they did for Germany’s and Europe’s Jews from the 1930s onward,” Lopez said.

“The warnings were there long before the ghettos, and round-ups, and one-way train trips to the concentration camps began in the 1940s,” Lopez said.

A search of “Egypt crucifixion” on news.bing.com returned this story on the Assyrian News Network which allows the reports may or may not be true:

Sky News, which was first to report about the crucifixions, has taken down its original article (though the URL still appears in the address box with the Arabic words “protesters-crucified-in front of-egypt’s-presidential-palace”).

While one may argue that Sky News removed the article because it was found false, one can equally argue that it censored itself for fear that it would be next in the terror campaign against the media.

In reality, there is little reason to doubt this crucifixion story. Militant Muslims crucifying their opponents is a regular feature of the Islamic world–recent cases coming from the Ivory Coast, where two Christian brothers were crucified, similarly by supporters of a Muslim president who ousted a Christian; Indonesia, where Islamic separatists crucified a fellow Muslim for being a military informant; and in Iraq, where Muslim militants crucified Christian children.

This bears keeping an eye on in the days ahead.
